  1. He introduced to the people of Gujarat, the spirit of conduct thought, and practice by making them experience the new-age and transparent administration which greatly helped in the formation of new Gujarat.
  2. Under his leadership Gujarat became the first state in the country to establish a truly open government by giving every citizen the right to information. After becoming Union Cabinet Minister, he advised than PM Manmohan Singh Ji to implement Gujarat like RTI system in whole India.
  3. For the first time in the state, a well-organized ‘Quick Grievance Redressal Mechanism’ was set up for speedy disposal of people’s problems.
  4. During his rule, farmers were provided with 14 hours of electricity instead of 10 hours during the harvest season. Gujarat became the first state in the country in this regard.
  5. The state government provided electricity to dark zones and doubled farmers crop production.
  6. For the first time in the state, free electricity was provided to primary schools and water distribution centres.
  7. Electrified slums through ‘Kutir Jyot Yojana’. Hastened the delivery of electricity to all homes.
  8. Work to lay the Narmada pipeline in Saurashtra to solve the drinking water problem on a permanent basis, was started under Bapu’s rule.

  12. For the first time in the country, government, semi-government and governmentaided organizations announced 33% reservation for women.
  13. The example of women empowerment was completed in Gujarat by providing 33% for women in local bodies.
  14. Created and provided employment to more than 1,00,000 unemployed.
  15. Improved the standard of living for the first time in the tribal area by setting up “Vocational Training Schools”.
  16. For the first time to match Gujarat with Israel, a scientific panel of agricultural research was developed.
  17. For the first time in Saurashtra, a new scheme of “Build Your Own Check Dam” was implemented and the groundwater level was raised.
  18. Bapu’s excellent government developed the “Gujarat pattern” in cooperative activities. Gujarat was made a leader in the field of co-operatives.
  19. Established “Veterinary and Animal Science University” in the state and made Gujarat number one in the animal husbandry dairy industry.
  20. For the first time in the country, free textbooks were made available in schools and the standard of education in schools in Gujarat was improved.
  21. For the first time in the country, tourism was declared as an “industry” and a distinct identity was given to Gujarati art and architecture.
  22. The price of electricity in agricultural power connections on a seven and a half horse power motor was brought down to Rs. 500 from Rs. 600.
  23. Utilised the natural mineral resources of Gujarat’s earth for power generation.
  24. Dedicated a lignite based power plant at Pandhro village of Kutch to the people.
  25. Decided to set up “Gujarat Water Development Authority” for implementation of drinking water scheme.
  26. Bapu’s government solved the drinking water problem of Saurashtra.
  27. A loan of Rs. 1 Lakh for cottage industries from the bankable scheme.
  28. Bapu commissioned the Common Effluent Treatment Plant at Ankleshwar to curb pollution.
  29. Expanded the employment landscape of Gujarat by providing industrial training to artisans.

  43. Under the “Manav Garima Yojana”, women were given Rs. 2500 assistance to buy sewing machines.
  44. Authorization committees were created to check purchases above Rs 50 lakh, bringing transparency in approving tenders.
  45. Medical aid treatment scheme of Rs. 1 lakh was introduced for people living below the poverty line and suffering from life-threatening diseases.
  46. Constructed 14,197 houses under Indira Awas Yojana.
  47. Provisions were made for Rs. 790 crore fund for tribal development.
  48. Established one primary health center per 20,000 population in the tribal area.
  49. Free distribution of household plots to 3,000 Scheduled Tribe farm laborers.
  50. In Bapu’s government, 20 new hostels, 5 ashram schools, 2 new government hostels, 3 government hostels, 20 kindergartens were sanctioned.
  51. Established a network of 185 community health centers, 958 primary health centers, and 7284 sub-health centers for the health of the people in the hinterland villages.
  52. Distributed safe maternity kits to 10,00,000 pregnant women.
  53. 100% tax exemption for Gujarati movies.
  54. Abolished turnover tax in Gujarat for the first time in the country.
  55. Made Remote Sensing and Communication Center operational.
